TSMC's 2Nano plant land was blocked in the preliminary review

According to Taiwanese media Zhongshi Electronic News, the Environmental Protection Agency of Taiwan, China, conducted a preliminary review meeting of the second phase expansion plan of the Baoshan site in Hsinchu Science Park on the 16th, including the scheduled site of TSMC's 2 nanometer plant.

However, after intense discussions, the EIA committee believes that there are still parts of the content that need to be explained by the development unit, and they decided to make the case supplement and correct the information before retrial.

The Bamboo Science Administration stated that since the first phase of the Baoshan land expansion plan is mainly for process research and development and early mass production, in order to maintain the island’s leading position in the semiconductor industry, in response to breakthroughs in the 3nm and 2nm process in recent years, the existing plant can no longer accommodate the new generation of machines. Taiwan, the park has no suitable land.
